What does your daily meal actually have to do with colonialism?
Join us on an extraordinary culinary journey through Kreuzberg and Neukölln. Discover what often remains invisible: the colonial traces on our plates.
In small groups of a maximum of 10 people, we will take you to our favorite places of West and East African cuisine in Kreuzkölln. You can expect not only authentic, incredibly tasty snacks, but also stories that go beneath the surface.
A foretaste of our stops:
We start our culinary journey with an appetizer at Sahara Imbiss. The Arab influence in Sudan is profound and has developed over many centuries. This is still visible today in the language, religion, culture and, of course, the cuisine. However, the British colonial period also left a lasting mark on Sudan: politically, agriculturally and culinary.
In the next restaurant, we travel on to historic Abyssinia - today's Ethiopia. Together, we discover how this diverse country still influences our lives in Germany today. Because one of our most popular everyday drinks has its origins right here. You might already have an idea which one - we'll tell you on the spot.
We're still keeping our next stop a secret. Just this much: it's all about German cuisine - and the global influence of one of our most popular dishes.
The final stop is Di Di Pa, a small, fine restaurant with West African cuisine that rounds off our trip in terms of taste.
By the end of the tour, you will not only have gained new perspectives - you are also guaranteed to be full.
