Eine Gedenktafel in der Wilhelmstraße 92 in Berlin-Mitte erinnert seit 2005 an die Berlin-Afrika- oder auch Kongo-Konferenz von 1884. Von vielen Menschen wird sie als Sightseeing-Spot bei wichtigen Stadttouren genutzt – unter anderem auch von DeSta (Dekoloniale Stadtführung). „Am Sonntag, den 25. Januar, habe ich noch eine Stadtführung gemacht und die Gedenktafel war da. Am darauffolgenden Donnerstag, 29. Januar, war sie verschwunden“, erzählt die Gründerin von DeSta, Justice Mvemba, im Gespräch mit der Berliner Zeitung.
Kontinuitäten der deutschen Kolonialverbrechen sind in Berlin bis heute sichtbar. Justice Mvemba will mit den Dekolonialen Stadtführungen zu mehr Bildung und Aufklärung über dieses Kapitel der deutschen Geschichte beitragen – zum Beispiel im Afrikanischen Viertel, zu Themen wie Schwarzem Feminismus oder Raubkunst im Berliner Schloss.
