During colonialism, many explicitly racist structures and systems were introduced, the consequences of which can still be felt today and have a lasting impact on many areas of life, such as culture, science, politics and the economy. By shedding light on this history, we want to help bring about even more lasting change.

The goal of decolonization
What is decolonization? And why is it important? Decolonization is an important process that helps to understand and overcome the effects of colonialism on today's society. With our guided tours, we want to break the taboo of talking and discussing colonialism and its lasting effects. In this way, we can encourage conversation and create a solution-oriented mindset when it comes to creating a new and more just world.

Recognition
It is important to recognize and understand that we were and are all affected by colonialism. This can be done through a critical examination of the past and a reassessment of historical events.

Unlearning colonialism
As Katharina Oguntoye says: "If you don't unlearn racism, you could miss out on the love of your life." Overcoming discriminatory structures is also a central aspect of decolonization.

Equal rights
The aim is to question and change power relations and enable equal participation of all people in society. Self-determination and equal opportunities can be achieved through decolonization
Overall, decolonization contributes to the creation of a fairer society in which diversity is valued and all people can participate on an equal footing.

Founder of deSta- Decolonial city tour
"I believe that we can create a better world for our future generations if we educate ourselves and our fellow human beings about history and colonial continuities. Dealing with the past can be painful, but it is absolutely necessary in order to create a better future."
