“Racism against white people”

Unbelievable: The AfD party submitted a motion in the Bundestag on February 16th, 2024, calling for a comprehensive anti-racism commitment—because, according to them, “racism against white people is structural and has certain consequences.”
This narrative is nothing new: even Donald Trump previously accused South Africa of “discriminating against white farmers,” tapping into the same misleading rhetoric that twists the meaning of racism by ignoring historical and structural power dynamics.

Read our slides to the end to find out why “racism against white people” is not a thing.
Instead of wasting time and attention on motions like this, what we really need is a systemic action plan to tackle the deep-rooted racism against BIPOCs, marginalized communities, and to fight right-wing extremism in Germany.
We cannot overlook the AfD’s active role in fueling racist sentiments and enabling violent hate crimes in this country.
