This special reading is dedicated to the moving life story of Theodor Michael Wonja, one of the most famous Afro-German contemporary witnesses, and will be presented by his granddaughter. Lorena Richter impressively presented. Based on the autobiographical work „Being German and black too“ the event offers a personal and historical perspective on the lives of Black people in Germany—from the Weimar Republic through National Socialism to the postwar years.

Lorena Richter combines selected passages from the text with her own thoughts and perspectives as a descendant, bringing history to life and making it tangible and highly relevant. The reading invites listeners to engage with questions of identity, belonging, racism, and German history, and provides space for reflection and exchange.
